So the rumors about the Bush administration having a libertarian rebirth were premature?

This US News & World Report summary is fascinating. I wonder if this would finally wake up enough lunkheads to make a difference.

The best epithet for Bush’s civil liberties record is the saying of Lily Tomlin: “No matter how cynical you become, it's never enough to keep up."

Steve & Sunni - I am not familiar with the new story.

But the doctrines that Bush uses to justify warrantless wiretaps also justify warrantless searches of everything else. It is not as if Bush announced that the Fourth Amendment is null and void, but only for phone calls and emails. If the feds are not searching Americans' homes without a warrant, it is not because of any constitutional right that the White House recognizes.

Many reviewers will yelp no matter what you feed them.

And the latest FDA guidelines effectively prohibit feeding them the right stuff to sharpen their vision and elevate their judgment.

You're not fooling me, Bovard. You're kowtowing to those Amazon book reviewers who yelped that Attention Deficit Democracy doesn't offer solutions.
