I haven't looked into the details but I assume that the Republican leadership called for the vote and structured the deal, mindful of preserving the safe flow of campaign contributions to Republican candidates. I would be curious to see an analysis of how much the average congressman knows about the issues involved in the current fight. My hunch is that at least half of the congressmen are as dumb as Arkansas Elk Club members on this subject. What regular or special agenda or program was followed that caused the 419 of them to assemble, convene or otherwise motivate them to even accept the notion that they even had to cast a vote on this sublect. Was it not the same collection of squirrels who saw fit to cast votes in 02 for the wretched document that made a ruler of a mere president, and gave us another crazy Asian war, Iraq vote.
