Shortly after his sham trial and conviction at Westminster Hall for "banditry" and treason, he was dragged naked through the streets and then executed by prolonged hideous torture too gruesome to mention in detail but commonly practiced against those found guilty of serious crimes including those against the state. The bogus treason charges were based on his highly effective use of guerrilla tactics against the English occupation forces that he viewed as raping his country. Banditry charges were tied to his capturing the King's gold intended to pay for the same. The handsome, literate, six foot seven inch tall younger son of a minor knight was one of the greatest freedom fighters of all time. His tactics proved that small mobile forces, especially when backed by the populace, can be used effectively against bigger and better equipped armies. History has shown time and time again that although a large occupation force may never be completely defeated in battle, it can be tied up, worn out, and even bankrupted over time.
