Tom - thanks for the ref to "Slacker Uprising." Sounds like an excellent movie, in its own depressing way.

The problem of non-comprehension of obvious deceits may be at the root of Leviathan's growth.

I'll be damned if I have a good explanation for it. Having spent a good while trying to expose the lies, the effort seems more like barking at the moon with each new Congress sworn in.

Dirk - both steroids AND speed?

I've known some jumpy weightlifters on steroids. Hard to imagine how far they would have gone with speed as well.

Mr. Blanton,
You got that right and I wake up every morning , feel like a cripple hobbling to the doorstep but as soon as I read the first newspaper article or hear the first utter stupidity on the telly, I feel like Jack Lalanne on Steroids and Speed.

A while ago, I recommended that we appoint a crew of Mexican Feral Dogs I met down in Yelapa Mexico as a ruling junta to work out the prevailing mess and in comparison to the lunatics and shivering messes in charge now, Spotty, Gomez and Pedro are veritable Rhodes Scholars.

When considering the general voting population, one can never be too cynical.

I just watched a strange documentary called "Slacker Uprising" made by Michael Moore which chronicles and glorifies Moore himself as he went on the road in 2004 to hold rallies for Kerry that masqueraded as anti-war rallies.

The documentary went so far as to show how Kerry said he would have voted for the Iraq war even if he had known the "truth" about the WMD.

So, many voters do not merely forget political events or misunderstand a politician's position on a given issue, they actually are unable to process the information in real time.

Kerry went so far as to advocate escalating the war in Iraq by sending significant numbers of additional troops there, and yet he was viewed by many as the peace candidate.

We are seeing this played out again where Obama is viewed as a peace candidate. He claims he is against only stupid wars, citing Iraq. But at the same time, he advocates escalating the war in Afghanistan - a war that is every bit as stupid as the war on Iraq.

Slacker Uprising is an unintentional study of cynicism and attention deficit democracy - or perhaps total disconnect democracy. It reminded me of the fake political documentary, "Bob Roberts", only more frightening as Moore's documentary is real.

Obama and Biden are peace candidates. McCain is a maverick and will bring change. Palin is a libertarian. Bush is a conservative. There will be a great depression unless Paulson is given $700 billion.

Maybe a new book is in order - Retarded Democracy: America Eats Shit Sandwiches and Wants Some More.

The only thing left for healthy minds to cling to in America is cynicism.
