When the realities of the wrecked financial system and this silly notion of a service economy finally do play out, it is at best a 50-50 chance that the juvenilized and gelded public will cry for someone to save them. At that juncture, expect the kind of magnanimity that only a strange, uniquely American blend of Elmer Gantry and Napoleon can provide. This is what over 200 years of American History, perverted by the last 6 decades of Public Schools and Consumer Culture have been waiting for…..a spectator unwinding with a rebel yell and a few prayers.
