We now have a political force...in essence an Imperial Satrapy that has stopped fearing the mob but uses the base forces of it masterfully. As a result, we have a government the mob deserves...Mencken's assertion that the people will get democracy "good and hard" ..... and it will get it harder and harder as time goes by. I am told by learned and sophisticated people that my attention to the ideas of the Framers is a "romantic impracticality" and that the new "Post Modern Conservative".....apparently something like a "neo-con" , only much more hip ....well, the new conservative needs to be more "pragmatic" and "work with what we got" in order to "get things done". This, I suppose, is akin to using dogshit to create a pot roast dinner because one does not have any beef on hand. Why don't we simply call it a day and put Faust on the dollar bill so everyone can adjust to the "new pragmatism" ? Truth , of course, and a chaste government is now something for romantic old poofs. When one's head is firmly planted up one's ass, the act of bending over to receive whats coming becomes altogether natural.
