The National Endowment for Democracy will probably deploy some of their summer volunteer interns to help out a few veteran CIA election fixers. After the fair elections are held, they can send in the drones to "terminate" any "loose ends" and maybe a reporter or two to minimize any negative news. No big deal. Any poli-sci major with Empire Management 101 under his belt should be able to handle it. I think Lawhobbit has it right. If even they were forced to admit what everybody knows--that the Karzai government is a fraud--it would collapse what little pretense they can maintain that the war can be won "if we just try a little harder". We've seen how well that approach works historically. But nobody reads history books anymore.
