Another classic from Oliphant….
The question from the little kid on the left side - - “Mommy - is politics a trick or treat?” -
- if only more adults thought to frame the issue that way….

“De-Sacralizing Democracy” Refuted

8:15 pm | Uncategorized | Comments: 3

The Campaign for Liberty reposted my FFF article on “De-Sacralizing Democracy to Save Liberty.”
The first comment, from last4ever from Salisbury, MD, was tell-tale: [quotes from my article in italics; his rebuttal is non-italicized]
“The combination of ignorant voters and conniving politicians is far more likely to ruin than to rescue this nation.”

(Duh!, your books [...]

So the pre-leak spin by the Pentagon is that they have already disclosed everything important that will be revealed in the next WikiLeaks document super-dump.
Obama’s Pentagon apparently believes that Americans are as gullible - if not mutton-headed - as the Bush Pentagon believed.
No surprises expected in WikiLeaks Iraq war dump: Pentagon WASHINGTON [...]

Me & Mother Jones: Libertarian or Rapper?

1:33 pm | Uncategorized | Comments: 4

Mother Jones has an article in their September/October issue challenging readers to guess whether one-line quotes (or antics) are from Rappers or from libertarians.
They used the first sentence of the last chapter of Lost Rights: “America needs fewer laws, not more prisons.”
When I wrote that book, I guessed that the above line would be [...]

A Tea Party Bright Side: Making the Fed Sweat

10:10 pm | Attention Deficit Democracy | Bailout | Federal Reserve | Ron Paul | Secrecy | Comments: 4

It’s great that the Tea Party is making the Federal Reserve sweat….
The New York Times has a piece detailing how, thanks to Tea Party activists, one “likely outcome” of the November elections “is greater scrutiny of the Fed, even though the Wall Street regulatory overhaul that Mr. Obama signed in July already calls for a [...]

Prince George’s Police Latest Scandal: Too Stupid to Cheat

4:09 pm | Lying | Police | wool | Comments: 8

[UPDATED BELOW]
The Washington Post has another horror story on the PG Police. The Prince George’s County Police Academy apparently had a system of organized cheating for trainees that was so obvious that even the auditors noticed. (When an entire class gets perfect grades on a whole slew of tests, that’s a clue). [...]
