MP3 of Brian Wilson Show Interview on Senate Vote for Military Crackdown on the Homefront

Brian Wilson and I had a good time lambasting the Senate for voting to empower the U.S. military to seize and indefinitely detain American citizens on the homefront. It is amazing to see 44 Republican senators race over a cliff to give absolute power to a president they claim to abhor. As long as some government official proclaims that someone is a terrorist suspect, the feds are off the leash.

T’is the nature of politics – war by other means, so to speak – that the party out of power will often work to give the other party more power because they tend to be immune from its application* and, more importantly, because they expect to be wielding that power themselves some day.

*just read any story of a congresslug who bumps into a TSA probulation….

Lawhobbit, you might be right — but I also suspect that most of the GOP senators were utterly clueless on this. Besides, as long as the provision didn’t threaten corporate profits, it could not do any harm.
