James Bovard: Author of the recent "Terrorism and Tyranny" has established himself as today's most effective author and journalist for liberty. Bovard's hundreds of articles have appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New Republic, Newsweek, among other publications. He began his career as an author with The Farm Fiasco (1989) and The Fair Trade Fraud (1991). His book Lost Rights: The Destruction of American Liberty (1994) won the Mencken Award. Freedom in Chains: The Rise of the State and the Demise of the Citizen(1999) combined investigative reporting with philosophical depth. For his overall contributions to civil liberties, Bovard won the Thomas S. Szasz Award for Civil Liberties..
