{"id":124,"date":"2006-05-27T11:40:46","date_gmt":"2006-05-27T16:40:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jimbovard.com\/blog\/2006\/05\/27\/al-jazeera-interview-transcript-now-online\/"},"modified":"2006-05-27T12:24:55","modified_gmt":"2006-05-27T17:24:55","slug":"al-jazeera-interview-transcript-now-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jimbovard.com\/blog\/2006\/05\/27\/al-jazeera-interview-transcript-now-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Al Jazeera Interview Transcript now Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The transcript of my interview on Al Jazeera is now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.net\/NR\/exeres\/DCA0CEB2-ED32-4958-8923-F533B810FD73.htm\"><strong>online here.<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>There is an audio link button near the top of the page<strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The host, Ahmed Mansour, was the Al Jazeera correspondent who stayed in Fallujah during the first US attack on that city in April 2004.\u00a0 Rumsfeld denounced him by name and made his eviction from Fallujah a condition for a US ceasefire.\u00a0 Mansour has covered many wars &#8211; from the Soviet-Afghan conflict, to Bosnia, to Afghanistan, to Iraq.\u00a0 He has written 17 books and is currently finishing a book on the U.S. war in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>His interview program is the most popular feature on Al Jazeera, reportedly watched by 25 million people each week.\u00a0\u00a0 I had dinner with him and a colleague\u00a0 two separate evenings, and every place we went in London,\u00a0 he was enthusiastically greeted by people who recognized him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Someone from Al Jazeera said that they thought his program may be routinely translated by either the U.S.\u00a0 State Department or embassies\u00a0or perhaps by the Brits.\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>If anyone has any leads to a\u00a0transcript of a translation, I&#8217;d be obliged.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I received a VHS of the\u00a0interview &#8211;\u00a0 with my comments in English along with the interpreter&#8217;s translations of Ahmed Mansour&#8217;s questions and comments.\u00a0 I am working on getting\u00a0this converted into DVD; the local\u00a0company I am using\u00a0has had\u00a0a few problems but expects to get it locked-and-loaded with a new conversion method over this weekend.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The transcript of my interview on Al Jazeera is now online here.\u00a0 There is an audio link button near the top of the page.
