Bet on the guy who speaks full sentences regardless of what he smokes<\/a><\/h1>\n<div class=\"article-header__meta\" aria-label=\"Byline\">\n<div class=\"byline meta meta--byline\">By <a class=\"meta__link\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/03\/who-do-i-believe-biden-or-the-billionaire-elon-of-course\/#\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"flyout-james-bovard\">James Bovard<\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"date meta meta--byline\" aria-label=\"Date published\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>President Biden derided Elon Musk Friday after Musk<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/03\/elon-musk-says-tesla-needs-to-cut-staff-by-10-percent-pauses-all-hiring\/\"> said he had a \u201csuper bad feeling\u201d <\/a>about the economy and wanted to lay off 10% of Tesla\u2019s workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/03\/joe-biden-on-elon-musk-lots-of-luck-on-his-trip-to-the-moon\/\">message to Musk<\/a>: \u201cLots of luck on his trip to the moon\u201d (NASA is partnering with Musk\u2019s SpaceX company for a moon voyage). While Musk warns of a recession, Biden boasted Friday that Americans feel more \u201cfinancially comfortable\u201d thanks to his policies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the clash between Biden and Musk, bet your money on the guy who <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/01\/19\/capt-sully-defends-joe-bidens-stutter-in-new-york-times-op-ed\/\">speaks full sentences <\/a>regardless of what he smokes.<\/strong> Considering Biden was caught off guard by inflation, a formula shortage, the resilience of the Afghan government, and pretty much everything else, why should we believe Biden\u2019s rosy outlook?<\/p>\n<p>Inflation is the top issue by a wide margin for Americans. <strong>Biden\u2019s inflation will soon have inflicted a 10% cut in the purchasing power of Americans\u2019 paycheck<\/strong>s. But Biden is indignant at criticism of his policies.<\/p>\n<p>Biden first tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/11\/joe-biden-blames-high-inflation-on-covid-and-vladimir-putin\/\">blame greedy corporations for inflation<\/a> and then began railing about \u201cPutin\u2019s price hikes.\u201d Didn\u2019t work. Last week, The Washington Post revealed that Biden now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/31\/biden-inflation-frustration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blames White House aides<\/a> who \u201cwere not doing a good job explaining the causes of inflation and what the administration is doing about it.\u201d But his aides have a helluva challenge when Biden boasts \u201ca gallon of gas is down 14% today\u201d \u2014 as he claimed based solely on a happy fantasy on March 9.<\/p>\n<p>Biden still claims that his multi-trillion dollar \u201cBuild Back Better\u201d bill would reduce inflation \u2014 showing he still hasn\u2019t learned economics, or shame.<\/p>\n<p>All the while, Biden is whisper-shouting, lecturing the nation about gun control, then flying off to Delaware without spurring Congress to do anything useful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Biden looks like a punch-drunk old fighter sent into the ring once too often.<\/strong> But his worst pummeling could occur if Democrats lose control of Congress in November. <strong>Unless Biden can make it a hate crime to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/12\/stickers-blast-biden-at-gas-pumps\/\">attach \u201cI did this!\u201d stickers<\/a> to gas pumps, his support will keep draining every time Americans fill up their tank.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>James Bovard is the author of 10 books and a member of the USA Today Board of Contributors.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New York Post, June 4, 2022 Biden vs. Musk?
