Kleenex sales may have shattered records in the DC metropolitan area this weekend thanks to The Washington Post\u2019s nearly 5,000-word pity party for Hunter Biden.<\/strong> The Post revealed that \u201cHunter\u2019s relationship with his own last name has . . . invited burdens and scrutiny.\u201d<\/p>\n

The multimillions Hunter pocketed in payoffs from shady foreigners was a paltry consolation for the burdens of his famous last name.<\/p>\n

Since The New York Post exposed the contents of Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop in October 2020<\/a>, congressional investigations and other probes have uncovered one gold-plated racketeering episode after another.<\/p>\n

But the inferior Post assured readers Hunter \u201chas at times been protective of the Biden name and shied away from taking advantage too directly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since Hunter didn\u2019t rent neon lights in Times Square to advertise his hustling, he didn\u2019t go too far.<\/strong> And almost all his tribulations were no fault of his own.<\/p>\n

According to The Washington Post, Hunter Biden was a victim of Barack Obama\u2019s selection of his father as a vice-presidential candidate. \u201cHunter\u2019s firm was thriving\u201d but tanked after the Obama administration \u201cimposed strict lobbying restrictions\u201d on Biden family members.<\/p>\n

So Hunter started a new firm and \u201cused relationships forged over a politically active life,\u201d the article declared.<\/p>\n

In case readers have any doubts, The Post trots out an anonymous former Hunter business associate who declared: \u201cThe stuff he was doing was completely normal.\u201d<\/p>\n

And if you can\u2019t trust anonymous Hunter Biden accomplices, then who can you trust?<\/p>\n

But even better than an unnamed Hunter cohort is the official exoneration from the Beltway\u2019s Delphi Oracle: \u201cA Washington Post review of Hunter Biden\u2019s career found no sign the family patriarch was an active participant in his son\u2019s business efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n

This relies on an Alice-in-Wonderland vanishing definition of \u201cactive participant.\u201d<\/strong> Regardless of how many lies Joe Biden told about having no involvement in his family\u2019s political hustles, regardless of meeting at least 14 of Hunter\u2019s business associates while he was vice president, regardless of his brazen falsehood that Hunter had no business in China in his final debate with Donald Trump, the president must be presumed innocent until a specific kickback is discovered in his pocket \u2014 preferably in foreign currency.<\/p>\n

The Washington Post castigates House Republicans who \u201chave not produced any direct evidence\u201d that \u201cJoe Biden improperly benefited from his son\u2019s work or used his office to assist the younger Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n

Congress and the Supreme Court define corruption extremely narrowly \u2014 requiring an explicit quid pro quo for a payoff. None of the Bidens is as boneheaded as former Rep. William Jefferson, who was caught with $90,000 in bribes stashed in his freezer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After his father became vice president, \u201cHunter and his business partners scoured the globe for business opportunities,\u201d the Post noted. \u201cIt was not unusual for Hunter to travel abroad with his father, giving him access to high-level officials, although former associates say he reimbursed the government for the flights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reimbursing the US Treasury for the coach-fare equivalent on Delta airlines is a helluva bargain for awing foreign clients by strutting down a gangplank next to the US vice president.<\/p>\n

Rattling off a list of foreign clients, the Post says, \u201cHunter also . . . took a seat on the board of Burisma, an energy company in Ukraine . . . at a time when Joe Biden was the face of the Obama administration\u2019s efforts to crack down on corruption in Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n

And the only problem was that some Republicans howled.<\/p>\n

Can we have a crowdfunding campaign so reporter Matt Viser can purchase access to The Washington Post\u2019s archives? Hunter\u2019s Burisma deal was recognized as scandalous as soon as it was announced. In 2014, a Washington Post analysis said the appointment looked \u201cvery bad\u201d \u2014 \u201cnepotistic at best, nefarious at worst.\u201d<\/p>\n

Did Joe Biden\u2019s brazen threats that led to the firing of the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating Burisma somehow expunge the taint of his son\u2019s appointment?<\/p>\n

Other passages in the article indicate debilitating levels of gullibility.<\/strong> After mentioning how Hunter arranged for Mexican businessmen including billionaire Carlos Slim to have breakfast with the vice president, an anonymous \u201cperson familiar with the encounters\u201d assured The Post that \u201cthe meetings were not substantive.\u201d Instead, the source said, \u201cIt was way more, \u2018My friends are in town. Is it all right if we come up for breakfast?\u2019 . . . It was, \u2018Yeah, of course.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

How can someone publish such malarkey and not be laughed out of journalism?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Biden brand is not mine to f\u2013k up,\u201d Hunter told people \u2014 at least according to another unnamed source.<\/p>\n

Historians will recognize Joe did vastly more to destroy the \u201cBiden brand\u201d than did Hunter.
