The House-Senate conferees on the financial reform bill have significantly tightened<\/a> the bill’s mandate to audit the Federal Reserve.<\/p>\n

This is a huge triumph for Ron Paul – and another vindication of his 2008 presidential campaign. <\/p>\n

The bill’s provisions do not go nearly far enough – but they are a seachange in official Washington. It was not that long ago that a Washington Post editorial fretted that pulling back the curtain (even a little bit) on the Fed would be a catastrophic evil….<\/p>\n
