W e had lots of fun poking holes in democracy. Here are some photos. One of the candidates, a bald, eye-patch wearing ex-Marine running for Congress (Nick Popaditch) was surrounded by a brown-shirt-like entourage that was mesmerized by his gun-fume high. I prostrated myself on the floor and salaamed him until the boy holding the photo of Popaditch in his Marine uniform became too embarrassed to hold it any longer. Seeing his distress, an older man (also a Popaditch worshipper) had to tell the kid not to be embarrassed and to soldier on with his poster duty. I then heard a great shout in the room. It was the entry of politician Juan Vargas. Attracted by the scene, I genuflected in front of him (an ingrained Catholic habit in the presence of diety), and I begged him to let me touch the hem of his garment.
