{"id":423,"date":"2008-07-08T21:57:44","date_gmt":"2008-07-09T02:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jimbovard.com\/blog\/?p=423"},"modified":"2008-07-09T10:02:39","modified_gmt":"2008-07-09T15:02:39","slug":"the-virtual-iran-war-resolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jimbovard.com\/blog\/2008\/07\/08\/the-virtual-iran-war-resolution\/","title":{"rendered":"The Virtual Iran War Resolution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is one of those times that I realize how deficient the English language is in profanity.\u00a0 Congressmen deserve far worse hammering than the vernacular allows.<\/p>\n<p>Congress may vote for\u00a0 a resolution this week that would be a de facto declaration of war on Iran.\u00a0 Iran poses no peril\u00a0to the U.S. mainland.\u00a0 But since the U.S. military is on a winning streak these days, Congress\u00a0seemingly wants\u00a0to give the Bush administration the chance to notch another triumph before it leaves office.<\/p>\n<p>Ron Paul has an excellent summary of this absurdity and its peril <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/paul\/?articleid=13087\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infowars.net\/articles\/july2008\/040708RonPaul2.htm\"><strong>radio show<\/strong> <\/a>last week, Paul commented:\u00a0 &#8220;I hear members of Congress saying, &#8216;If we could only them [Iran].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apparently, as long as nuking Iran\u00a0resulted in more\u00a0campaign contributions to congressmen, it would not count as genocide.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People should raise hell on this issue.\u00a0\u00a0 And if your congressional representative or senator votes for the pro-war resolution&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\">Antiwar.com<\/a> has great coverage of this and many other issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is one of those times that I realize how deficient the English language is in profanity.\u00a0 Congressmen deserve far worse hammering than the vernacular allows.
