Bush, there are growing signs that his administration will continue the Washington tradition of covering up the crimes of his predecessors.<\/p>\n<p>The Obama administration is repeating the same arguments used by the Bush White House to justify whitewashing the illegal deletion or coverup of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/wire.antiwar.com\/2009\/02\/21\/obama-administration-tries-to-kill-e-mail-case-2\/\">millions of White House emails<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Obama administration has not\u00a0released the\u00a0key secret Bush administration legal documents on the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.propublica.org\/special\/missing-memos\">torture and warrantless wiretapping scandals<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Obama&#8217;s legal wiz kids are invoking the same <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/abajournal.com\/news\/obama_secrecy_policies_tested_in_extraordinary_rendition_case\/\">state secrets<\/a><\/strong> claims to justify covering up government crimes that the Bush team used\u00a0ad nauseam.<\/p>\n<p>In his first days in office, Obama made positive sounds with his executive orders on the<a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/federal-eye\/2009\/01\/_in_a_move_that.html\"> Freedom of Information Act<\/a> and greater transparency throughout the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>But lofty rhetoric and executive orders are no substitute for revealing the hard facts on government crimes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Though Obama thus far does not seem as bellicose as did George W.
