Lots of protestors marching in Baltimore today. It is good to see charges filed against the police involved in Freddie Gray’s death. But some of these protestors are wildly idealist. The t-shirt apparently says, “Most Kings get their Heads Cut Off.”<\/p>\n
It has been 40 years since a governor of Maryland was sent to prison, and Baltimore mayors have never paid a price for their official crimes. The current mayor has been covering up police brutality and crimes for more than 5 years – and there is\u00a0no indication that she will be held liable for her complicity. \u00a0And former U.S. presidents who trampled the law and the Constitution continue to reap lavish speaking fees in lieu of jail time.<\/p>\n
It would be great if oppressors got what they deserved – that would deter similar aspiring criminals.\u00a0 But justice for supreme rulers is a rarity in history.<\/p>\n
