Bluegrass Festival: Danny Paisley & Southern Grass, Etc.
I caught the “Bluegrass on the Farm” festival in Derwood, Maryland on Saturday.
Danny Paisley and Southern Grass put on two magnificent performances. Paisley and his band are nominated for 4 awards this year from the International Bluegrass Music Association. Rain made the audience sparse, but Paisley and crew performed at a fever pitch regardless.
Dirty River band also put on a very energetic, fetching performance.
WAMU’s Lee Michael Demsey did a great job emceeing the show and explaining the histories and backgrounds of the performers.

Nice shots. Have you ever caught the bluegrass at the Old Lucketts Schoolhouse just north of Leesburg, VA?
They’ll be running concerts October through next April. (http://www.luckettscommunitycenter.org/bluegrass_schedule.shtml)

You took some excellent shots of the Hillbilly Gypsies! I had not seen them before. The D40 is a peach of a camera.
I went to Lucketts Fair either late last month or early this month - heard some very good groups. I may have to tromp over to Lucketts again, given their schedule.

Thanks. I first saw the Hillbilly Gypsies at the Purple Fiddle in Thomas, WV–a great venue for both bluegrass and alternative music.
