YouTube version of my “Bush’s War on Civil Liberties” speech

Lew Rockwell  kindly posted today the links to my Future of Freedom Foundation conference speech on “Bush’s War on Civil Liberties.”

The speech is a bit dated, since Bush recently renounced his authoritarianism and is showing a new devotion to the Constitution.

Whoops – last line was a typo.

According to my insider sources, Bush will not renounce his despotic ways until January 19.  Or maybe the next day.

Wait a minute Mr. Doubter, President Bush don’t need to renounciate no despotic ways cuz he’s a freedomer and a fighter fer libertyrianism. He’s gonna have a Freedom Institute and just the other day, I heard tell that he’s gonna be like the anti-Carter, travelin the world and speakin out about the heartbreak of liberty…oh i mean anti-libertyrianism. He’s gonna be remembered for liberatin them Iraqi’s and bringin freedom to them Afghanis and protectin the right to stampede at shopping centers right here in the USA.

You need to make yer reservations fer his new Library and Institute now buster because you obviously have a bad attitude. I’ll bet you even think them evil-doers should be allowed habeas corpus even though they caint speak latin . It’s people like you who make libertyrianism hard to take you…you…..you DOUBTER GUY

Had me going there for a second! “Renounced his authoritarianism”? “A new devotion to the Constitution”? I know sometimes I’m a few days behind the news, but how could I have missed that?! (Ha! Good one. I’ll have to remember that when April 1 next rolls around. There will surely be an opportunity to use it.)

    But…

Don’t you know that Bush is the ultimate defender of our civil rights? It’s because of his wars and the brave people who fight them that you have the freedom of speech to say such things about him. Ain’t America great!

At least that’s what they tell me…

P.S. I was watching an old YouTube video of Sean Hannity, today, on the subject of war and the military. It’s fresh in my mind, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to mock some of the silly things he said.
