There have been wars amidst my family on the proper pronunciation of the last name.
Some people pronounce the O as if it were a short a.
But, hell’s bells, nobody can figure out how to spell the name when you say it like that.

On the bright side, Ohioans probably woudl not consider “Bovard” an arcane foreign name, as it was perceived at times where I grew up…
