Midnight yesterday was the deadline for comments on the TSA’s checkpoint obscenities. A stampede occurred near closing time and more than 5400 people added their 2 cents to the official forum.
Below is my comment (extracted from last week’s Washington Times op-ed). Looking at this riff with fresh eyes today, I lament that I neglected to include the word “boarhawged.”
The TSA is like a nitwit magician who perennially pulls new boondoggles out of its hat. The TSA is justly renowned as “security theater” — an organization whose byzantine rituals provide only an illusion of safety. Rather than making Americans safe from terrorists, the TSA makes them prey to federal agents. There is no reason to expect the agency to turn over a new leaf. It will continue lying and abusing Americans as long as the citizenry and Congress tolerate its abuses.
Ryan Radia and Marc Scribner of the Competitive Enterprise Institute crafted an excellent analysis of the TSA’s regulatory notice – which they posted on the official forum and on the CEI website – available here.
How could you forget something as perfectly appropriate as “boarhawged???”
It’s like your heart isn’t in the game any more!
Maybe the .gov suffix on the URL threw me off my game.
