Walter Williams, R.I.P.

Rest in Peace, Professor Walter Williams. Walter brought a personal toughness honed as a Philly cab driver to fighting for freedom for more than 40 years. He did not flinch when he was vilified for taking unpopular positions. Instead, he kept smiling and explaining and helped legions of folks recognize the folly of trusting government to save their ass. He recognized that the Constitution intended to leash politicians, not vex Americans in perpetuity with elected dictators.

Here is a website with links to many of his books and articles.

GREAT TEACHER, INTELLECTUAL, AND COMMENTATOR: R.I.P. I only met Walter Williams, once — in either 1988 or 1989 in Brooklyn, NY, at a Free Press Conference. Both of us arrived early and were sitting in the hallway outside of the main meeting room. We were the only ones there, so I introduced myself and we spoke for about 15 or 20 minutes without interruption. One of the funniest things he said to me — after I explained how my liberal friends spoke about black Americans and affirmative action — was this:

“Larry, the problem with those people is that their vision of a black person is somebody holding a mop. That’s it — somebody who can’t do for himself. Somebody that needs them. They literally think that’s what we are. The only thing that will fix them is having a black boss.”

The world will be poorer without his wit, candor, and warm personality.

Dr Williams remains a clear voice of practical reasoning, examples including his concise comments on discrimination and prejudice. In light of what’s approaching in Beltway Blindness, it’s refreshing to revisit Walter’s wisdom. https://libertypenblog.blogspot.com/p/walter-e-williams.html

He had a neat style in person – no pretension.

Williams will be sorely missed, and I fear the line of progs, Breadtubers, and other malign filth are going to do to him what Chuck Jones did soon after Bob Clampett died. (Read: Go out of their way to discredit him.)

So far, the comments after his death have been nothing but adulatory. Glad to see him getting credit he deserved.

THE original Rush Limbaugh Show guest host. THE very first guest on Mark Levin’s Sunday Fox show. An intellect, a great man.
