As the power outage drags on in the DC area, today’s Washington Post subscribers were relieved to read the following from regional Pepco president Thomas Graham: “You can’t say this was a Pepco issue.”
I read that line early this morn, prior to my power returning.
I checked the online version and was surprised to see a prefix added to Graham’s quote: “Comparatively speaking, you can’t say this was a Pepco issue.”
Did Post reporters botch the original quote? Or did Post editors or reporters water it down online under pressure from Pepco?
(Pepco says it will not be until Friday eve that power is returned for 90% of customers hit by Pepco’s outages).
“Comparatively speaking”? I’m afraid I don’t get it. Compared to what?
The guy ought to be the next presidential mouthpiece. He’s got the Genuine Frontier Gibberish down pat.

No wonder people think that Pepco actually stands for the Pakistani Electric Power Co.
