…What did the Romans say? it is permitted me—But not you. I wonder what Kyle Sampson will say when Leahey starts digging in his soft ass? Maybe on National Television?

According to US News, ” Sampson will set off some fireworks by contradicting a key assurance that Gonzales made to Congress and the American public last Tuesday that he was not in the loop during the long deliberations leading up to the firings.” [linked at http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/ ]

Gonzales is in Chicago today at a PR stunt = “‘Project Safe Childhood’ — designed to protect kids from online predators.”

Nothing on the schedule about protecting Americans from lying politicians.

…LBJ drove the final nail in Tail Gunner Joe’s Political coffin by seeing to it that Army-McCarthy hearings were Televised. But a better question on that note is perhaps why the intellect in the operation–The infamous Roy Cohn–didn’t do back flips in attempting to block Johnson, who was known to be deferential to the 50’s Sport of Red Hunts. Fast forward 50 years, and I don’t know if these “anti-War” Democrats will, or have the influence to do an inversion of same thing. Maybe we oughta consult Tim Russert? As for US News & World Report? I usually take anything controlled by Mort Zuckerman with an aspirin. They, along with the Journalistic Savants at TIME–Like Duffy–Can type all Goddamned day and say little if anything. The Last National TV Circus I remember was Iran-Contra…Reagan survived it. If this show make Prime Time Nationwide, then its a major compromise of the neo-Cons…as far as “protecting Americans from lying Politicians?” That’s what you’re for.

Goodling is using the same tactic that was once frequently employed by mafia hierarchy when feeling the heat – citing the Fifth Amendment. “Justice” is for thee but not for me.

That won’t be half as funny as watching the Faux News “All Stars” do their Bill of Rights backflips. They can “appreciate” the BOR and defecate on it, all in the same broadcast.

Goodling’s lawyer, John Dowd, informed the Washington Post that “hostile and questionable environment in the present Congressional proceedings is at best ambiguous; more accurately, the environment can be described as legally perilous for Ms. Goodling.”

Maybe she needs extra time to line up fashion consultants for the Big Show.

Ms. Goodling does not need any fashion consultants. Silver Bracelets and Zebra-striped Coats look good on any criminal.

If she decides to wear a business suit for her eventual testimony, I’d be willing to loan her my Al Jazeera lapel pin.

But she would need to leave some kind of security for it. Like maybe a diskette with all the emails between Gonzales and the White House…

…You stick a fork in Attorney General Alberto “Stungun” Gonzales’ ass…Because all he’s done.

Thats one of the best headlines I have seen here!

  11. Jim March 28, 2007 at 12:07 pm #

    Steve – thanks!

Maybe I missed my calling in life. I should have gone to Journalism School – then I could have become a headline writer.

…It would be interesting to see Carl Rove have cite his rights under the 5th Amendment before this is all over. It’s been said that this has been the most secretive Administration in Modern History; but, evidently this Sampson wasn’t secretive enough…Go figure?

  13. Jim March 28, 2007 at 10:03 pm #

The fur is flying ahead of the hearing on Thursday – it doesn’t look like there is any risk of peace breaking out between Sampson and the Justice Dept.

I wonder who the next Bushie will be to ‘fess up to what other people did.

The US government should give Ms Goodling a one way ticket to Guantanamo Bay so she can experience first-hand the non-torture techniques her boss has been advocating. They’ll soon get the truth out of her! Let the War on Error begin.

  15. Jim March 29, 2007 at 9:49 am #

That would be ironic, since the US interrogation processes seem to be one long ‘perjury trap’ for the detainees.

  16. Mace Price March 29, 2007 at 11:43 am #

…Well, not a helluva lot in the way of live Media coverage of Straight Arrow Sampson’s testimony huh? But I did see The Tele-Tubbies with Matt and Meredith…along with NBC’s David Gregory doing some Hip-Hop renditions with Carl Rove, both performers in Tuxedos…Add to this some Comedy spots by The Decider and you may well come away with a better understanding of Jefferson’s observation that: a functional Democracy must be contingent on an intelligent and well informed public…Thank you Thomas—THIS SPECTECLE, THIS FARCE, IS INDICATIVE OF AND AIMED AT A GENERAL LEVEL OF IDIOCY! IT’S AN INSULT! A JOKE!…and worse than that? The joke’s on us…OK then, excuse me all to hell fellow uhhhh, Citizens, because I’m gonna go get falling down drunk.

Mace–I saw some of that crap too. Boy, is that embarrassing! How any sentient individual could point and say with pride “those are my leaders!” is utterly beyond me.

As for Bush’s standup–not only was it tasteless, it wasn’t even funny. Watching all of the press toadies roaring with laughter at his poorly written and lamely delivered “jokes” destroyed what little shreds of respect I still had for the press corps.

Invective alert; do not read if tender-hearted or you think David Brooks belongs anywhere besides the Great Ape House of the Bronx Zoo.

Ahem, I don’t know if any of you saw it today but David Brooks, one of the Loyal Sunbeams for the Unitary Executive dealt a real whopper in his op-ed piece in the Times. He says we don’t need no stinken U-turn into the passe Goldwater-Reagan era, what we need is: “security leads to freedom”. Whaaaa?!!!!!Cripes what a load.
These remorseless gits really do need to be bundled off to the Pashtun Taliban and offered as replacements for the fermented goats they use in their Mountain Pony Polo games outside Kabul.

Speaken of our Arabian friends, it would appear that the Deecider failed to send more of his Mystic Suffi Love Poetry to the House of Saud after they held hands at the ranch a while ago. Shucks.

These boys are milking this Federal Attorney’s issue like mad because nothing much will come of it and no doubt, they will make their Democrat assailers look bad whilst continuing to prosecute their Low Fat Reich Plan on the ijit electorate. Anybody else for chartering Brooksy boy a trip to the Kabul Dead Goat Mountain Pony Polo Games?
