New Bush Dictatorial Decree

Just when my concerns about Bush were starting to subside….

Bush issued an executive order on Tuesday permitting the feds to seize the property of anyone who threatens “the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq” or who “undermin(e) efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq.”

Former Justice Department official Bruce Fein commented to TPM Muckraker: “This is so sweeping it’s staggering. I’ve never seen anything so broad that it expands beyond terrorism, beyond seeking to use violence or the threat of violence to cower or intimidate a population. This covers stabilization in Iraq. I suppose you could issue an executive order about stabilization in Afghanistan as well. And it goes beyond even attempting violence, to cover those who pose ‘a significant risk’ of violence. Suppose Congress passed a law saying you’ve committed a crime if there’s significant risk that you might commit a crime.”

This order is probably worse than it looks, since that is the pattern with such Bush decrees.

More to follow….

Well, the Congress has to do something about him. Thats the way I see it Jim. You know I am about the closest thing you have to a resident Democrat. The reason I bring that up is that the Decider is getting his powers from a Congress that wont even try to stop him.

The man should be impeached and removed from office. I finally realized that after the Libby pardon went down, but the Democrats are enabling him.

Hope the writing is going well.

I saw this on another site but thought it was some “Onion” type parody. Boy, you can never go wrong believing the worst about Bush, can you?

    Mr. Bovard,
Well this is just dandy! The Shrub is pushing us closer to a total dictatorship. Remember, he DID say the job would be easier if it were a dictatorship, as long as he was the dictator.
This could, along with his “security directives” shut down ALL free speech and any form of dissent. Constitution? An old peice of paper. Bill of Rights? An out-dated, quaint LIBERAL notion that must no be taken seriously.
Congress? A gang of damn fools who care more about party politics and “positioning” than being true to their oaths to defend and support the Constitution. Look at Ms. Pelosi. After getting a cold shoulder from AIPAC, she says impeachment is off the table. Hell, I sent an email to Ron Pauls’ campaign headquarters and they replied, very politely, that even HE doesn’t think it should be considered!
Well, folks, our government is now against us.
That old constitutional republic was a nice experiment, but now it is time for Cheney/Bush to rule us with martial law, until they “decide” we might(?) be allowed some small freedoms. Maybe.
America, where are you now? Will you join us in the fight against the monster?
    semper fi,
charliep.s. I STILL believe the oath I took to defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic, when I enlisted in the Marines is STILL valid. When I was discharged (honorably) I was never asked to revoke that oath.
