Obama’s Torture Coverup

Does President Obama have a vested interest in covering up the crimes of the Bush administration?

His decision to block the release of photos of U.S. troops abusing detainees in Iraq and Afghanistan is a reminder that the nation may still be running on “Cheney time.” As long as the photos are not released, former Bush administration officials can control the narrative – if not the entire debate. They can continue denying that the US government engaged in torture – at the same time they make specious claims about the vast benefits from using ‘extreme interrogation.’

Obama will be damned by the torture masterminds regardless of what he does. His suppression of evidence of their crimes merely aids their efforts to vilify him and makes other Americans – and much of the world – distrust him.

Unfortunately, as with the torture scandal itself, it may be years until we know why the Obama team is colluding with people almost certainly guilty of war crimes.

The sick irony of the photos lie in the fact that the war in Iraq…and now the widening of Drone Remote Control attacks in Pakistan constitute a fine recruitment tool for the terrorists and the photos represent a home run recruitment tool. these crackpot utopians think they can actually succeed by following a sordidly brutal and immoral path in “defense of democracy”.

Pres. Obama’ administration is slouching into the well trod path toward Gomorrah blazed by the screwballs that he took over from . With the cockeyed policies of this nation, he really has no choice. Obviously his declarations of “change”
were simply “politics”…that thing which elevates public rituals of lying to new heights.

Isn’t the core fact that the Democrats were complicit, and usually enthusiastic, in all the most hideous crimes of the last Bush administration, whether its foreign aggression or its outright war on America and American liberties?

For that matter what reason have we to believe that the US no longer tortures? For one thing, it seems historically likely it always has. More pertinent, Obama only “forbade” certain US officials from engaging in torture in US facilities – not torture renditions to states ruled by barbarians.

Anyway, why would anybody believe what Obama or any officeholder said?
