Interesting discussion. I was especially interested by the point that new businesses are an important source of new jobs–which suggests that getting the government out of the way of creating new businesses would be a big help.
I think that the most important job training is not in specific skills but in work ethics. Jeffrey Tucker is right IMHO when he says that child labor laws are a disastrous mistake. A person who learns at an early age to show up on time and make himself useful is already ahead of much of his competition even before he learns any specific skills.
As usual Jim you gave a proper schooling to everyone on the failures of government attempts at creating employment. You put your fellow guest in her place. Great job!
