Broadwell first “bonded” with Petraeus during a six-mile run. Petraeus obsesses over whether people can run a six minute mile. Maybe he didn’t have enough energy left after workouts for clear thinking.
Given my best Army Time running was a 7:02 mile (standard two miles, 14:04) minutes, and that was when I was in top shape (I was normally in the 8 minute range), clearly I’d never have been at his level. Of course, I *also* would never have had a mistress nor have been sharing classified documents with her, so you can see why I’d have been doubly boinked in regard to obtaining the rank of general. It just takes a different physical and mental set of skills to go that high…..
