Debating the Death of Freedom on FFF Podcast

I joined FFF president Jacob Hornberger and Richard Ebeling yesterday to debate the plight of freedom on an FFF podcast. We discussed the war in Ukraine and Americans’ ignorance on foreign policy conniving by Washington and a bevy of other subjects.

I commented, “The news nowadays is a horror show that never ends.”

I was told that ‘freedom’ has the moral high ground. I pointed out that Custer & the 7th Cavalry had the high ground at Little Big Horn & still got wiped out.

You can watch the 43 minute wrangle here –

I started out the show wearing a face mask because I wasn’t sure what Hornberger might have picked up with his wild social life.

Perhaps the quote attributed to Gandhi, “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win” applies to the uptick in attacks on libertarianism. Or the attacks could be spun as exposure, which is good, even if it comes via mud-slinging. Or maybe we’re screwed. I have no clear guess for what the future, near term or far, holds, though the short term looks pretty grim. Strangely, the message you articulate becomes all the more important the more it is generally ignored. If there were ten thousand Jim Bovards, each well received, they’d all be pretty much wasting their time. As it is, with the lights of civilization being snuffed out, the few that remain are particularly vital.

Excellent points. I am also mystified as to what the future holds. What the heck, thrashing politicians is still fun regardless.
