Thank you for continuing to be the nation’s finest, pro-liberty, anti-statist investigative journalist. Could you please comment on the decision to invite the despot Donald to appear at the 2024 Libertarian National Convention? Were there ulterior motives by the party’s domineering Mises Caucus wing? Why have so many prominent, principled libertarians been buttoned up about criticizing, or even referencing, the Libertarians for Trump movement (endorsed most vociferously by the Mises bunch and their lapdog collaborators)?
An uncompromising libertarian should devote an entire podcast to explaining this ideological incongruity.
Thanks very much for your kind words. Jacob Hornberger has already done several podcasts on the LP invitation to Trump. https://www.jacobforliberty.com/blog/
I was at the convention on the evening when Trump spoke but I chose to “vote with my feet.” The media would have been quarantined in a waiting area 3+ hours ahead of the Trump speech.
It was Friday evening and, alas, I was summoned by a beer long before Trump took the microphone.
I heard you mention Founders Centennial IPA when you were a podcast guest. I hope you were able to find this unique brew while having to endure the LP circus act.
I look forward to hearing the esteemed Jacob Hornberger’s take on the LP extending a pussy willow branch to Trump. However, during Trump’s first term in office, I recall asking Mr. Hornberger to try and explain the rationality and motives behind the (predominantly Mises Institute conceived) libertarians for Trump movement. Mr. Hornberger responded, he did not know. Perhaps the reasons are clearer to him in 2024.
I agree with the bulk of Mr. Hornberger’s assessments, but I do not agree that the domineering Mises Caucus of the LP had good intentions when deciding to invite Donald Trump to speak at the LP convention. Dr. Murray Rothbard’s, January 1992, article from the Rothbard-Rockwell Report titled, “Right-Wing Populism: A Strategy for the Paleo Movement” may shed light on the LP’s ill motives.

All the best and much success to you.
Thanks again for your kind words. I didn’t find Founders Centennial but what the heck, at least I didn’t overdose on a cannabis-laden gummi.
Hornberger’s videos have plenty of fire and brimstone on the Trump invitation.
I genuinely appreciate your response.
