Bush Does Abraham

The intellectual bootlickers surrounding Bush have apparently persuaded him that he is the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln.   Fox News recently had unprecedented access to Bush to produce a documentary to air on Sunday night: ““George W. Bush: Fighting to the Finish.”  Fox reporter Bret Baier commented of his meetings with Bush: ”

We talked a lot about President Lincoln. And there’s going to be a lot of people out there who watch this hour and say, is he trying to equate himself with Lincoln?

I tell you what — he thinks about Lincoln and the tough times that he had during the Civil War. 600,000 dead. The country essentially hated him when he was leaving office.

Perhaps the cartoon history books Bush was given neglected to mention the fact that Lincoln was very popular in the North at the time he “left office” via John Wilkes Booth.   Lincoln was hated in the South, not surprisingly – given the Rules of Engagement that northern armies followed in the final years of the war.

Bush has followed in Lincoln’s footsteps when he gushes over freedom while trampling the Constitution.  That Lincoln suspended habeas corpus, jailed 20,000 people without charges, forcibly shut down hundreds of newspapers that criticized him, and sent in federal troops to shut down state legislatures was irrelevant because he proclaimed “that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth,” as I noted in Attention Deficit Democracy.

Bush struts when he promises to “bring to justice” people on his target list.

Hopefully Americans will see George Bush brought to  justice and forced to answer and  for his crimes.  That would be a rebirth of the Rule of Law in this land.

I find the comparison quite apt. We have on our hands here two fanatical ideologues who thought nothing of wasting lives, resources, and money in pursuit of a pie-in-the-sky ideal that always eludes capture. They are even more alike in that both men for both terms were elected not because they were in any sense virtuous, but because their opposition looked so much more unpalatable than they were. This is just one more sign that Bush has political Alzheimer’s. Next he’ll say that he’s Napoleon, in which case we’ll say, “You’re on to something!”
But I believe that we will see justice come to us in that no one will ever care to remember the Bush-Clinton-Bush years, except as one bad dream. The Clinton and Bush libraries will be as infrequently visited as Warren G. Harding’s (at least according to R. Emmett Tyrell’s prediction.)

Boy, it’s hard to keep track of all the people that Bush thinks he’s the reincarnation of. We practically need a database to do the job.

I also wonder what a shrink would make of the resulting data. I’m no shrink but I think it’s a bit odd, being as I have lived my whole life without having to be the reincarnated essence of somebody else.

Maybe on January 20, 2008 when Hillary is sworn in as president, she and Bush can have a joint seance where he can try to channel Lincoln’s ghost and Hillary can attempt to contact Eleanore Roosevelt. Then we can truly have a spiritual White House.

Lets see now, El Deecider Furioso has fancied himself
    Teddy Roosevelt
    Truman
    Lincoln
And thats just what they have told us. I’m quite confident he has a Witto Bwoom Steed and he runs around the West Wing with a Hun Helmet screaming “Here comes Attila”
At least Lincoln had a brain instead of something like a pituitary gland linked to the vocal chords after a brief detour through the testicles.
Fox News Channel really is a remarkable organization
