    I’m wondering what point Cheney is trying to make here. Is it that the media dwells on news he doesn’t like to hear about? Or, is it that this is what all journalists do but don’t realize the things they cheerfully report on are actually quite evil?

    This would apply to nearly every action the government takes.

      I’m not sure that Cheney had a point. He may have simply thought of this as a funny spin on a classic illustration. Dunno.

    Well, it is a funny picture. It would also make a great desk ornament.
    I just hope the SPLC doesn’t interpret it as a racist hate crime and
    get some kind of federal investigation going. Fortunately, the hate
    crime police probably have their hands full dealing with locker room
    bullying and Facebook hate speech.

      Ya, I also wondered about whether it would be a hate crime offense. Or maybe just a morals offense, since it encourages deviancy.

    Cheney seems to offer a pretty naïve riff on the old portrayal, given the media’s pride in “shaping the news.” Maybe there should be two or more rows of monkeys, all reporting that the other monkeys are evil. Alternatively, maybe we just can’t see the monkeys’ wings from this angle, and the wicked witch isn’t even in view.

      The cartoon at the imgur.com link is excellent. It explains why I never wear pointy shoes.

      Perhaps someone did a great cartoon on how the media responded to the recent govt. “shutdown” – but I haven’t seen such yet…
