Duncan Lemp Killing & Coverup – My Update with Scott Horton Show

Libertarian Institute boss Scott Horton had me back on his radio show this morning to discuss the latest on the Duncan Lemp case.   Lemp was fatally wounded when a Montgomery County SWAT team fired through his bedroom window without warning at 4:30 a.m. on March 12.  The fatal assault was propelled after the Montgomery County Police received an anonymous tip that Lemp possessed firearms. Unfortunately, the county has revealed almost nothing about how or why the SWAT team turned a search warrant into a death warrant.

Scott and I also discuss the protest at Montgomery Co. Police headquarters on Saturday.  One of the organizers encouraged attendees to bring rifles even after learning that guns are prohibited by law at demonstrations in Maryland. Roughly 10% of the attendees were arrested for firearms violations.

It’s great that people across the nation are refusing to forget Duncan Lemp and demanding justice on his killing.

A travesty, I hope when the footage comes out the guilty parties are held to account. These judge, jury and executioner killings need to come to an end. There needs to be serious enough ramifications (like what penalties a civilian would face for murder, for starters) for officers involved in these shootings, that they must be absolutely sure when they take a life. As it is now, they get to shoot first and make up a reasonable cause later. They need to be reigned in. Too quick to pull the trigger for any perceived hesitation to obey unlawful and sometimes even conflicting commands being screamed at top of lungs volume while pointing guns, just waiting for the excuse to end someone’s life. Why do we let them get away with it, over and over again? To Duncan’s family, I’m sorry you are having to experience this pain and loss, like too many families across this nation have. Hope this is the tragedy that gets the ball rolling so his death won’t have been in vain. Peace to you all.
