I spoke today at the Washington protest calling for freeing Julian Assange. It was a tough audience for Biden jokes. Big thanks to Ford Fischer /News2Share for making this excellent video of today’s event – it is far better than the 4 hour YouTube video of today’s event. I wasn’t expecting to be called to speak at that time so didn’t have a moment to take off the camera. The YouTube version shows me arriving at the podium and removing my sunglasses. (Thanks to Ford for permission to repost his video – his work is far better than what I usually see from rallies.)

Great speech – I wish I could have been there.
Tom, thanks very much. I especially appreciate that coming from a veteran of so many protests like you. (Your 1978 DC story is one of the best I’ve heard.)
I’ve searched and searched Youtube and can’t find the long version. There are two from yesterday the UK that show up, but none in the USA.
Do you have a link for the Youtube video?
Speaking of that 1978 protest, I’ve heard that Lafayette Park is off limits these days.
Here is what the 1977 protest looked like (pretty much what 1978 looked like) https://youtu.be/BLcDURW5D0o?t=734
Thanks for that link. Those were zesty times.
A lot of people in the audience seemed to be more interested in chatting among themselves than anything else. Must have been a bit frustrating. There were appropriate cheers at appropriate spots, at least.
Yep. That is typical for these protests. https://libertarianinstitute.org/articles/on-the-ground-at-dcs-pro-assange-protest/
I usually engage with your mind (and the truths it shares) through the printed word. It is refreshing to see a video from time to time, in which you are clearly animated by the passion that, although it also comes through in your prose, must be imagined by the reader. I wish more people at the event had received the bingo cards; I would have appreciated hearing what you had to say about them.
Thanks for your comment – I’m sorry I didn’t greenlight it earlier. I was on the road without a laptop or other access to this site. Thanks for watching the video – I’m glad the passion comes through at least in the speech. Ya, those bingo cards might have been helpful. Next time I’ll try to remember to bring a stack.
