Why Did Trump Arrest a Student for Writing an Op-Ed?

Ryan McMaken and I had fun smacking the Trump administration for sending 6 masked federal agents to seize a Turkish grad student to punish her for writing an op-ed. Is this case the bellwether for a sweeping crackdown on free speech – first with foreign students, & then American citizens? Trump, discussing the protests over Gaza, promised rich donors last May: “One thing I do is, any student that protests, I throw them out of the country. You know, there are a lot of foreign students. As soon as they hear that, they’re going to behave.”
