Poaching the Onion’s Memoir Marketing Spiel

So I’m thinking of poaching this great Onion marketing spiel for their edition of Joe Biden’s memoirs –

“Q: Should you spend $2.99 on “Diamond” Joe Biden’s memoirs or on cheap booze?

A: Spend $5.98, read memoirs drunk”

Public Policy Hooligan is currently $6.99 – maybe that still counts as cheap booze? It’s been a long time since I checked the price on “Night Train.”

I can see this is no AA meeting with you two chug-a-lugs on board.

How about keeeping the price where it is but offer a 10% discount on a vat of Raging Bitch?

You can thank me later on your way to the bank…

Lawhobbit – the only reason you recall the price was because of that famous advertising jingle —

    What’s the word?

    THUNDERBIRD!

    What’s the price?

    FIFTY TWICE!

Seriously? There was a jingle? BUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…..

Actually, the reason I know is because I was sitting in my dorm room with my roommate going through the PLCB* sales price book, and on a whim we started looking for the cheapest wine in there. We bought a bottle (along with other party goods). We tasted it. I gagged like Brian with a glass of pink catawba. Sherman … finished the bottle. And liked it.

I also remember Boone’s Farm going for a buck thirteen….but for me, it was worth the extra fifteen cents for quality!

My first taste of wine as a child was some sort of jug burgundy my aunt had. It was so vile that it was a good 35 years before I would taste any sort of alcoholic beverage again. My second husband talked me into trying Glenlivet single malt scotch, and I’d love to have a wee dram of that now and again… but I’m too scotch (read cheap) to buy it. Oh me.

I’ve saved a FORTUNE not buying liquor. Now if I could just figure out where that money all went. 🙂
