Oh, they’ve learned the lesson. The problem is that they haven’t learned the RIGHT lesson.
The lesson they learned was, “We can do better than the Soviet, British, Russians, Mongols, Alexander the Great, etc. etc. etc., despite all historical evidence – both personal and general – to the contrary.”
